If this rally holds, it will be the strongest in the past six months for the Dow and S&P 500.  Keep in mind, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and all the major indices held above critical 50-day moving average last week.  In hindsight, that was a big buy signal. Now the S&P 500 has hit a new high and the Dow and NASDAQ are galloping right behind.

The great news for the market is today’s rally is balanced (see table below) as buyers are looking at an assortment of investing themes.

I think it’s more than a sigh of relief rally as I continue to point to economic trends that nobody else is reporting.   A combination of soft data and hard data points to an economy on the move with the potential to move into overdrive.

Widespread Buying

This kind of buying begets additional buying especially among professional traders.  Of course, the street was talking crash last week, so we know there is still reluctance among the “smartest guys on Wall Street,” but they better wake up soon.

The train is trying to leave the station.

Never Forget

Make sure not to forget the first responders and other heroes of 9-11 and more recently in states battered by Hurricanes in the United States.

I had the honor to attend a ceremony for Engine 54 Ladder 4 Battalion 9 this morning.  The Firehouse lost 15 members, the most of any firehouse in NYC.

We can never forget their bravery.

We can never forget those that did this to us.

We can never forget that freedom isn’t free.
